Find out how 2 be good 2 ur baby by being good to u

“Did u know what’s good 4 u is good 4 ur future baby?”

If not, MTSU’s Center for Health and Human Services will tell you through a text-messaging and online campaign to inform young women about important lifestyle choices.

The “Did u Know” initiative, which began in 2010, explains the importance of physical activity, eating well and folic acid intake. Students are asked to go to www.diduknowtennessee.org and click on the section for students.

Each student completes a pre-test, reads modules on each of the six topic areas and completes a post-test. The entire process takes 30 minutes or less.

Participants who complete the modules are eligible to win a $100 Target gift card, a $10 Target gift card or a $15 iTunes gift card in random drawings.

“Building upon successes from when the project began in 2010, we will be able to reach more young women with these important messages as well as share the ‘how-tos’ with other colleges, universities and student groups throughout the state,” said Cindy Chafin, project director and consultant for MTSU’s Center for Health and Human Services.

The project is made possible through a grant from the March of Dimes, which works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The advisory committee for the project is made up of public health professionals and maternal/child advocates interested in improving the health of women of childbearing age in Tennessee.
