In the News: MTSU journalism class practices experiential learning in West Tenn.

MTSU journalism professor Leon Alligood and a group of students are in the midst of a three-week experiential learning class in which students are writing stories and creating content for two newspapers.

The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun caught up with the group recently while they worked in West Tennessee with the Chester County Independent, a weekly newspaper located in Henderson, Tenn. According to The Sun, the group next will head to Lawrenceburg, where they’ll be writing for The Advocate. For the last part of their trip, they will be in Gatlinburg focusing on multimedia reporting.

The trip was funded by a $7,000 grant from the Seigenthaler Chair of Excellence.
