MTSU’s John Hood honored for public service

John Hood—MTSU alumnus, former state representative, community organizer and volunteer, and possibly the busiest man in Rutherford County—was honored Feb. 10 by the Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation at its Excellence in Education Celebration. The fundraising event, which also served as an opportunity for friends, family and “foes” to “roast” the man long known as “Mister MTSU,” recognized Hood for his decades of community service, particulatrly his devotion to improving educational opportunities for children from kindergarten to college.
