Jimmy Hart, director

Jimmy is director of news and media relations at MTSU and joined the university in May 2012 after a career in daily journalism. The former executive editor of The Daily News Journal and in Murfreesboro is a native of Lexington, Tenn., and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He directed coverage of Rutherford and Cannon counties for all Gannett Tennessee publications, including The Tennessean, in his role as editor of the DNJ. He joined the DNJ Media Group in spring 2006 after serving for 11 years as a reporter and city editor for The Jackson Sun. Gina E. Fann, news content manager

Gina Fann, an alumna of MTSU’s School of Journalism, covered education, courts, government, the military, transportation and technology as a writer and editor for Tennessee media before moving into higher education and legal publishing. She joined the Office of News and Media Relations in 2004 and edited The Record, the university’s official publication, until its retirement in June 2011. Gina K. Logue, producer/media representative

Gina Logue is a veteran with 20 years’ experience in broadcast journalism. She handles ProfNet, a service that matches reporters’ queries with faculty experts, and she is the contact for connecting faculty with journalists. She also hosts and produces “MTSU on the Record,” a multi-award-winning 30-minute interview program on WMOT-FM, and writes and produces “Middle in a Minute” vignettes for radio. Her beats include the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, the James E. Walker Library, international education and women’s issues. Paula Morton, office manager

Paula is secretary and office manager for the Office of News and Media Relations and has been an MTSU employee since 2005. Her duties include coordinating photos, dean’s lists and graduation lists to honor each semester’s graduates; compiling and distributing the weekly e-RECORD digital newsletter; prepping Century Farms Program releases; documenting ProfNet media requests; blogging news releases; recording voice-overs for MTSU’s “Out of the Blue” TV program; coordinating distribution of MTSU Magazine content to external media; supervising student workers; and processing news clips. Randy Weiler, writer and news liaison

Randy is a staff writer and news liaison for the Office of News and Media Relations. He oversees coverage for the Colleges of Basic and Applied Science and Graduate Studies and the University Honors College, as well as for Student Services and Student Life, Alumni Relations, Information Technology, research, three MTSU chairs of excellence and six campus centers.
