MTSU offers many local and merchant discounts for students and employees. You just need to show proof of your MTSU ID. There’s a lot of different categories ranging from eye care to food. You’ll be surprised from all the places you’ve been to, and didn’t use your MTSU ID to save a couple bucks. 

This doesn’t only apply to students, but faculty and staff has the opportunity to use their ID to these places too. So, don’t lose your ID because it comes in handy.


From getting your tires rotated for free at Discount Tire to purchasing a new Honda, Volvo and Subaru vehicle for a special percentage over invoice. If you need to go on a trip, and want to rent a car, U-Save Auto Rental gives 10 % off with your ID. Other things include repairs, auto parts for 15 % off with MTSU15 before checkout, and more.

Technology & Subscriptions

Technology is one of the most popular discounts that students use, but there’s some that are useful that many don’t know about.

  • Sign up for a free subscription to The New York Times
  • The Amazon Prime Student program is free to join and includes 6 months of free two-day shipping, free movies and TV shows. So, you could rent books or get things faster with Prime Student.
  • Spotify Premium or Apple Music is $4.99 per month for college students. Say goodbye to ads and hello to free skips with no interruptions. Spotify even gives you Hulu for free, so take advantage of that.
  • Apple gives occasional back-to-school deals, like free Beats headphones with a purchase of any Mac product (iphone, Macbook, or Ipad Pro). Plus you can get $200 extra off with your student ID.
  • If you’re needing an editing software for graphic design, photos and video, Adobe offers the Creative Cloud that comes with 20-plus apps for $19.99/month for students and teachers. Most universities supply them already, but it comes in handy when you want to edit in bed.

A Nashville Predators fan, or love Nashville Shores? MTSU offers a discount for those too. Just visit Nashville Shores website, enter “mtsu” in the promo code box and you’re good to go. Or purchase Preds ticket online for discounted ticket pricing with the offer code “middle”.

Mega Video on Nathan Court in Murfreesboro gives 15% off to all MTSU students where you could rent DVD’s, Blu-Ray’s and video games.

Eye Care

A lot of college students are overdue for an eye exam and avoid going because they can’t afford it. But don’t worry because Doctor’s ValuVision and Family Vision care gives 10 to 20 % off everything with your ID. Many others offer discounts on frames and lenses. As much as everyone loves food, the best part is getting discounts for select food places like Blue Coast Burrito or Camino Real. Over 20 restaurants give MTSU students and employees discounts for their food.

You might eat at a place and not even know you could get 10 percent off your meal. Most places give a 10 percent discount. All Sonic Drive – In Murfreesboro locations are exclusive though. They give 20 percent off of everything with your ID. Now take advantage of all these food discounts because a little goes a long way.


Some miscellaneous discounts that you probably didn’t know exist are dry cleaning your clothes, getting someone to help you move, or getting an attorney.

Tickets at Work Program

It gets better. MTSU has added a benefits program where you can get exclusive discounts and savings on movie tickets, theme parks, hotels and more.
