Two years ago, I wrote my very first story for MTSU Student Voice on mtsunews.com titled, “The Ultimate MTSU Bucket List.” I thought it would be fun to revisit this list and see how many I checked off before I graduate on August 8. 

And maybe it will encourage some of you to work on completing the ultimate MTSU bucket list before you walk across the stage to get your diploma. 

#1: Go to a football game (Bonus points if it’s the homecoming game) ✅

I have worked almost every home football game with the MTSU student social media team in the last two years. I love working the football games. I attended the last three homecomings and worked the last two.  

#2: Try MTSU Creamery’s chocolate milk ✅

I highly recommend the MTSU chocolate milk. I have tried it so many times. If you’re a (chocolate) milk drinker, you can’t leave MTSU without trying it. 

#3: If you are a new student, attend Convocation ❌

I never did this one. 🫣  I did not make it to Convocation in 2021 when I started college at MTSU. You will just have to go for me!

#4: Join at least one of MTSU’s 200+ student organizations ✅

In 2025, I joined Collegiate DECA. I was a member for two years and attended conferences in San Francisco and Louisville. I also placed 3rd in the nation in Marketing Communication at the April ICDC conference. I made the best friends doing this. I loved my time in my student organization. I couldn’t recommend joining one more. 

#5: Eat at McCallie’s in the Keathley University Center (KUC) ✅

I have eaten at McCallie’s a few times. It is definitely a must-do. They even have the MTSU Chocolate Milk in there for you. 😉

#6: Eat at The Farmers Market ✅

I love The Farmers Market. It is my favorite place to eat on campus. The menu changes every week, and it is so good! 

#7: Go to the Homecoming parade ✅

I have worked the last two homecoming parades. This is such a great way to get involved and meet new people. It is so beautiful to see everyone on campus smiling and cheering. 

#8: Spend time at the Recreation Center ✅

I have taken a few fitness classes, and I loved it. It is free to students if you are enrolled in classes full-time. I love their yoga and pilates classes. 

#9: Take a picture at the horseshoe ✅

This is an absolute must. You can’t go to MTSU without taking a few pictures at the horseshoe. 

#10: Study in all four floors of the library ✅

Wait, I just realized I have done this because I have rented a study room on every floor. I spent all of my freshmen year in the computer lab on the first floor or in Starbucks. 

#11: Visit the Makerspace ✅

The Makerspace is so cool. There is so much to do there. It is in the library on the second floor. There is a podcast studio, AR/VR technology, 3D printing, a green screen room, flight simulator, etc. They will train you how to use everything. I went to film a Hidden Gems project and had the best time. This is a great resource for students, and I regret not going more. 

#12: Go to a student production at Tucker Theater ✅

I went to the Fall Dance Concert, Busie Body, and Sweeney Todd my freshmen year. Our theater and dance department is incredible and puts on the best productions. The events are free for students with your Blue ID. 

#13: Go to the Spring concert ✅

In the last five years, I went to three out of five concerts. I definitely regret not going to more. JACK HARLOW ✅ PARTYNEXTDOOR ✅ GLORILLA ✅

#14: Visit the Center For Popular Music ✅

I visited the Center for Popular Music for my socials job to make a Hidden Gems video. I am still going to count it because it was so cool. They have a lot of old and new music, artifacts, and resources. There is so much to learn and see there. 

#15: DON’T step on the seal (until you are graduating) ✅

I did this in my graduation pictures when I graduated from undergrad. Don’t worry, I didn’t do it again until I took my grad pictures for grad school last week. I feel like you do it once and never do it again, even if you graduated. 

14/15 not too bad. 

After two years, I have a few more items I think should be added to this list. I challenge you to put yourself out there and complete this bucket list before you graduate. Who knows doing one of these things may open a lot of doors for you.
