MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — In the July edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television program for Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will hear discussions about the 40th anniversary of the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, achievements in hospitality from the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, and exciting improvements in both Murphy Center and Floyd Stadium.
This month’s guests were interviewed by program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications, from studios located in the Center for Educational Media inside the McWherter Learning Resources Center on campus.

July’s guests include:
• Katie Goodwin, Governor’s School director and associate MTSU theatre professor, discusses the 40th anniversary of the Tennessee Governor’s School of the Arts hosted at MTSU.
The three-week, on-campus intensive hosts around 300 students to help hone their skills through a variety of artistic mediums — visual arts, film, theater, music and dance — and is one of the eleven Governor’s School locations in Tennessee.

• Dr. Elizabeth Whalen, associate professor and program coordinator, discusses the student opportunities offered through the Tourism and Hospitality Management Program in the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences.
The program prepares students through hands-on opportunities and mentorship programs in collaboration with the growing tourism within the Nashville area.

• Nathan Wallach, assistant athletics director for MTSU Athletics, details the many changes coming to the Murphy Center and Floyd Stadium to enhance the future of Blue Raider fan experiences here at MTSU.
Alongside a new video control room located in the concourse of Murphy Center is the new Student Athlete Performance Center at Floyd Stadium, all designed to not only create an enhanced fan experience but to give students new opportunities on campus as well.
