The June 2023 edition of Middle Tennessee State University‘s “Out of the Blue” TV magazine show is heating up for summer with news about undergraduate research opportunities, training teachers worldwide from the middle of campus, and how studying new languages and cultures can expand almost any career.

Join us this month to hear from:

• Biochemistry major and undergraduate researcher Janna Abou-Rahma and Dr. Kevin Bicker, a professor in the Department of Chemistry in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, who discuss Abou-Rahma’s recent win at a national research competition with ties to the renowned Mayo Clinic and how MTSU’s research environment is especially supportive of undergraduates.

• Dr. Laura Clark, director of MTSU’s Center for Educational Media in the College of Education, who explains how the myriad professional development opportunities provided both in-person and online are helping educators across the state — and often around the world — make a difference in teaching K-12 students.

• Dr. Olaf Berwald, chair of MTSU’s Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts, who talks about how proficiency in a world language and honing intercultural skills are career-boosting qualities for students in almost any field.
