‘MTSU On the Record’ enters exercisers’ minds via professor’s new book (+VIDEO)

A recent edition of the “MTSU On the Record” radio program examined the psychological roadblocks that prevent us from becoming physically fit.

Host Gina Logue’s interview with Dr. Mark Anshel, a professor of exercise science, aired earlier this month on WMOT-FM (89.5 and www.wmot.org ). You can listen to their conversation here.

Dr. Mark Anshel

Anshel is the author of “Applied Health Fitness Psychology,” a college-level textbook with suggested activities designed to help students make the connection between theory and practice.

“We are probably the most self-destructive culture in the world,” Anshel said. “You might say, ‘Well, aren’t they starving overseas?’

“Well, many countries, yes, they are starving. But they don’t have a choice. They don’t have what we have in the way of food and nutrition and hospitalization and medical facilities, etc.”
