NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Debrah Sickler-Voigt, a professor of art education in Middle Tennessee State University’s Department of Art and Design, knows that art projects don’t have to cost a lot of money to create a meaningful masterpiece.

On Friday, Dec. 5, the “MTSU Local on 2” segment from the studios of WKRN-TV News 2, the ABC affiliate in Nashville, featured Sickler-Voigt sharing how to create a one-of-a-kind holiday project using items already found around the home, such as old gift bags, cards, tissue paper, or wrapping paper.

“With costs going up, I really wanted to do something where families did not have to spend a lot of money,” Sickler-Voigt said.

Sickler-Voigt recommends using a heavy-duty glue stick to prevent the glue from peeling off.

The craft is great for all ages and the perfect way to spruce up your holiday décor.

You can create mantle centerpieces, ornaments, cards, and more, and it’s an easy way to give old things new life and make your home feel more festive.

“Just be creative and use your imagination,” Sickler-Voigt said.
