For those looking to build their Spanish-speaking skills, the Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition at MTSU has the fix for you this winter.

Register now for CALA’s five-day Accelerated Spanish Part 1 class, which is open to anyone in the community age 13 and up who wants to dive into the new year by learning a new language or developing current language skills.

Classes will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 8-12 in Room 106 of the Paul W. Martin Sr. Honors Building.

Course fees are discounted for MTSU students, faculty, and staff as well as for high school students and K-12 teachers/administrators.

CALA’s short-term classes are created to provide an engaging, fun language-learning experience. The course is based on brain research that provides people with lots of hands-on, interactive methods in a relaxed environment using learning tools such as movement, songs, games and stories.

CALA Assistant Director Brian Roberts shared feedback from a previous student, who is a local retiree:

“CALA (has allowed me to speak Spanish) confidently. The storytelling and structure of the class helped me learn organically and increased the scope of my understanding immensely.”
