MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — New and returning Middle Tennessee State University student veterans and their families are welcome to attend a “newcomers briefing” for fall semester hosted by the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center.
The event, which is free and with a meal provided, will be held starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Miller Education Center’s second-floor atrium, 503 E. Bell St., in Murfreesboro.
Organizers request new and returning student veterans and their families make their reservation by emailing DeAnne Hathaway at DeAnne.Hathaway@mtsu.edu or call 615-904-8002.
“We are excited to welcome our new students and their families to campus,” said Hilary Miller, center director. “This is such a wonderful event. We get to meet, have a good meal and ensure everyone starts off on the right foot. The Daniels Center is all about military-connected students’ academic success.”
Miller and her staff are targeting new-to-MTSU student veterans and family members, but it is open to all student veterans and their families, she said.
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith M. Huber, senior adviser for veterans and leadership initiatives and retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, will speak during the event.
Various campus and off-campus organizations will attend and provide information and answer questions.
The Daniels Center, located in Rooms 126 and 306 in Keathley University Center, serves as a one-stop-shop to 1,200 student veterans and their family members.
MTSU’s fall semester and 2024-25 academic year begin Monday, Aug. 26.
