Four finalists have been chosen by MTSU as part of its search for the next dean of the College of Mass Communication, Provost Brad Bartel announced Thursday.
The candidates invited to the campus for interviews are:
- John F. Lansing, president of Scripps Networks, who will visit March 18-19.
- Karen Magnuson, editor and vice president of the Rochester (N.Y) Democrat and Chronicle and the Democrat and Chronicle Media Group, who will visit March 28-29.
- Ken Paulson, president and CEO of the Freedom Forum’s First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University and in Washington, D.C., who will visit March 25-26.
- Dr. Scott A. Shamp, director of the New Media Institute at the University of Georgia, who will visit April 1-2.
Dr. Roy Moore, dean of the college since 2008, will step down as dean on June 30. He will remain with the college as a professor.
Bartel said the candidates will tour the campus and meet with faculty, students, alumni and staff. A new mass communication dean is scheduled to be selected in April and may begin work July 1.
