March 4 Midsouth Supply Chain Summit at MTSU to focus on sustainability, solid waste ‘crisis’

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University’s Jones College of Business will host the 2025 MTSU Midsouth Supply Chain Summit on March 4, bringing together the university’s supply chain management students with industry leaders, partners and others for a full day of educational and networking opportunities.

Presented by the MTSU Center for Supply Chain Management and Sustainability, the summit will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the Student Union Ballroom, highlighted that morning by a keynote session titled “Tennessee’s Solid Waste Crisis = Vast Economic Opportunity,” featuring state Sen. Heidi Campbell of Nashville.

From 9:40 to 11 a.m., Campbell and members of her team will present the proposed Tennessee Waste To Jobs Act, which transfers the cost of recycling from taxpayers and municipalities to the companies producing packaging. The act is expected to bring thousands of new jobs and economic development to Tennessee by investing in the state’s recycling infrastructure to collect, process, and recycle more recyclables — helping businesses get more of the valuable recycled content they need.
