MTSU closes Dec. 23-Jan. 1 for holiday break; university reopens Jan. 2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University will be closed from Monday, Dec. 23, through Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Business offices will be closed during this time and campus services will be very limited.

MTSU will reopen Thursday, Jan. 2, with offices and departments open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Undergraduate and graduate students taking online Winter Session classes from Monday, Dec. 23, to Thursday, Jan. 16, will follow their faculty members’ daily guidelines. There will be no Winter Session classes Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, for the two holidays.

MTSU spring semester classes will begin Tuesday, Jan. 21.

While the Middle Tennessee State University campus is quiet during winter break, students will return Tuesday, Jan. 21, for spring semester and the first of two True Blue Preview days will take place Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Student Union. Holiday hours of operation for some buildings, including:

• Student Union — open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 19-20; and closed Saturday, Dec. 21, through Jan. 1.

• MTSU Phillips Bookstore — open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19-20; and closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1

• James E. Walker Library — open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19-20; and closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 1. Services available during this time include electronic books, articles and streaming videos available 24/7 and Ask Us!

• Campus Recreation Center — facility open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 19-20 (offices open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days); and facility closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1. For center hours, visit https://www.mtsu.edu/camprec/hours/.

• Student Health Services— open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19-20; and closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1.

• MTSU Campus Pharmacy — open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19-20, with drive-thru open until 4:30 p.m. both days; and closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. The pharmacy closes from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.

•  MT One Stop — open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19-20 and closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. The MT One Stop Call Center, accessible by calling 615-898-2111 (option 1), will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to speak to a live agent.

• The Information Technology Division, or ITD, Help Desk, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19-20; open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 21; open from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22; closed Dec. 23-25; open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 26-27; open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28; open from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29; open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 30-31; and closed Jan. 1. During open hours, email help@mtsu.edu or call 615-898-5345. People can also visit the ITD Service Portal (help.mtsu.edu) to submit an incident or request or to read how-to articles to try to resolve common issues.

Other MTSU assistance available during this time includes online tutoring services for Winter Sessions students.
