MTSU closes May 26 for Memorial Day; summer classes resume May 27

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University will be closed Monday, May 26, for the 2025 Memorial Day holiday. All offices will be closed and no summer term classes will be held. 

The university will reopen and classes will resume Tuesday, May 27. 

Memorial Day is a federal holiday honoring and mourning U.S. military personnel who died in the line of duty in service to their country and is observed annually on the last Monday of May. 

Middle Tennessee State University’s popular Campus Recreation Center facilities in the Health, Wellness and Recreation Center at 1848 Blue Raider Drive in Murfreesboro, Tenn., will be open for students and staff to utilize from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 25, and closed Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day holiday. During the holiday weekend, the James E. Walker Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 25, but closed on Monday. The library will reopen at its regular hours Tuesday, May 28, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Campus Recreation Center facilities will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and closed Monday. The campus rec office will be closed May 24-26.

The Student Union will be closed May 24-26, as will Phillips Bookstore, which is located inside the Student Union.
