MTSU closes Sept. 1 for Labor Day holiday; classes resume, campus reopens Sept. 2

MTSU closes for Labor Day Sept. 2, 2024

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day Holiday. No classes will be held and all business and department offices will be closed.

Campus offices will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 8 a.m. and classes resume at their regular times that day.

Students taking Saturday classes are expected to attend Saturday, Aug. 30.

Along with other fitness areas, the Middle Tennessee State University Campus Recreation Center outdoor and indoor pools will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1, during the Labor Day holiday weekend on campus in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Football — the Blue Raiders taking on former rival Austin Peay at 6 p.m. Saturday in Floyd Stadium — will bring students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans together for Party in the Grove, in the Walnut Grove area, with a main stage for performing artists, food trucks and a full slate of activities for the entire family starting at 3:30 p.m.

Weekend and holiday closings will include MTSU Phillips BookstoreStudent Health Services and Campus Pharmacy.

During Labor Day weekend, openings will include:

• Student Union Building  open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; open from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31; and closed Sept. 1.

• James E. Walker Library — open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; open from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday; and closed Sept. 1.

• Campus Recreation Center — facility open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday (indoor pool open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and outdoor pool open from noon to 5 p.m.); facility open from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday; and facility open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday (indoor pool open from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and outdoor pool open from 3 to 6 p.m.).

• Phillips Bookstore in the Student Union — open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
