MURFRESBORO, Tenn. — Following months of planning, the Homecoming Committee for Middle Tennessee State University’s Student Government Association is gathering steam for this year’s big event.

In the September edition of “Out of the Blue,” MTSU’s television magazine show, SGA Homecoming Director Anna Jacobellis provides details regarding student-related activities leading up to the 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, game against visiting Duke University in Floyd Stadium.

You can watch the Jacobellis’ segment with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of marketing and communications:

With a Western theme of “Blue Raider Rodeo,” Jacobellis said events will include:

• Monday, Sept. 16, SGA Swag Wagon around campus.

• Tuesday, Sept. 17, Skate Night at the Rec (Campus Recreation Center).

• Wednesday, Sept. 18, Country Chili Cookoff in the Floyd Stadium concourse and Homecoming Games in Floyd Stadium.

• Thursday, Sept. 19, Country in the Commons on the Student Union Commons.

• Friday, Sept. 20, National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show in the Student Union Ballroom.

Excitement continues Saturday, Sept. 21, with the traditional Homecoming Parade (livestreaming on True Blue TV) at 10 a.m. and Mixer on Middle parade watching party starting at 9:30 a.m., followed that afternoon by the Party in the Grove in Walnut Grove from noon to 3 p.m. and the crowning of homecoming queen and king at halftime. “It’s a big job (SGA homecoming director). It’s a big event,” Jacobellis said of homecoming. The theme is “a little bit of country, a little bit of Western and a whole lot of Nashville,” she added.

Jacobellis said homecoming parade floats will be parked in Walnut Grove during tailgating “so you will get to see all of the floats and take pictures with them” and music entertainment from country-rock trio The Cadillac Three, all with strong MTSU alumni ties.

“It’ll be really exciting to see all their hard work, because these organizations put hours and

hours and hundreds of dollars into these floats to really show their MTSU pride,” Jacobellis added.
