Leah Chism, a second-semester freshman from Murfreesboro, gave patrons of the James E. Walker Library a break from midterm exam stress on Monday, Sept. 29. Chism is the owner of Canyon, a two-year-old purebred Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. After undergoing weeks of training, Canyon was certified as a therapy dog by New Jersey-based Therapy Dogs International. He is callm and loving around all kinds of people and is a big hit with students, many of whom had to leave their pets at home when they enrolled in college.
Canyon and Leah also are scheduled to appear at Walker Library from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2; 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6; and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
