MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Student Government Association president Michai Mosby, who was recently elected to a second term, shared his vision for the coming school year on the June edition of “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s television magazine show.
Mosby, a Memphis native, told “Out of the Blue” host Andrew Oppmann that student engagement is his biggest focus.
“I think that we have a real shot again to do something that we’ve never done before —
and that’s unite students,” said Mosby, who is double majoring in public relations and political science.

Being a visible part of the Blue Raider campus community is a vital part of his plan.
“I honestly believe that students have to see you,” Mosby said. “I have to lead them into that excitement. I have to build that excitement. My biggest joy is being able to do that — excite students. I’m a naturally enthusiastic person. I enjoy being happy. I enjoy being that light to everyone.”
So you’re likely to see Mosby actively participating in events, whether it’s leading a chant at an athletic game, engaging in activities at a campus function or simply chatting with other students.
“I’m never going to ask the students to do something that I’m not willing to do myself, and I have to lead by example. So that’s my philosophy,” Mosby said.
Mosby is also adamant about being a vocal representative of the more than 20,000 students at MTSU. It’s not an easy task, but he takes a team approach.
“Year two is working with those same individuals to see how we can accomplish goals together,” Mosby said. “I believe that everybody has to come to the table to play their
part in order to accomplish the goal at hand.”
