August MTSU ‘Out of the Blue’ marks 10 years of Engage, intros future of True Blue TV, new SGA president [+VIDEO]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — In the August edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television program for Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will hear discussions about the 10th anniversary of one of MTSU’s signature academic programs, be introduced to the newest member of the True Blue TV team and meet the new president of the Student Government Association.

This month’s guests were interviewed by program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications, from studios located in the Center for Educational Media inside the McWherter Learning Resources Center on campus.

August’s guests include:

• Julie Myatt, instructor and Engage director, discusses the successes of the academic program following its 10-year anniversary.

Previously known as MT Engage, this academic program works to create an engaged culture of learning with MTSU students and faculty, guiding individuals to be active participants in their learning, helping them make connections across different learning experiences both in the classroom and beyond.

• Karli Sutton, multimedia specialist and MTSU alumna, discusses her new position as a multimedia reporter for both True Blue TVand MTSU News and Media Relations.

Alongside discussing her new responsibilities as a reporter for MTSU, which will include a monthly segment on “Out of the Blue,” Sutton also details her time and experiences on campus that led her to where she is today.

RJ Ware

• RJ Ware, MTSU’s new SGA president, details his upcoming term and plans for the 2025-26 academic year.

Ware, a political science major from Hermitage, discusses his journey to office, as well as his top priorities as the student body president, identifying mental health as the main pillar of his administration.
