MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Kicking off the new year with the January episode of “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s television magazine program, viewers will learn about exciting updates to our partnership with Meharry Medical College, dive into our Professional Counseling graduate degree within the College of Education and meet our new vice president for student affairs and dean of students.

Guests who sat down with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president for marketing and communications, include:
• Eric Miller, advising manager of the Pre-Professional Health Science Advising Center in the MTSU College of Basic and Applied Sciences, provides updates to the Medical School Early Acceptance Program, or MSEAP, a unique partnership between MTSU and Meharry Medical College in Nashville to fast-track students to become physicians.
MSEAP is a seven-year early medical acceptance program exclusively for incoming freshmen that begins with acceptance into the program as an undergraduate at MTSU and concludes with graduation from Meharry Medical College. At the conclusion of the program students will earn a Bachelor of Science from MTSU and a Doctor of Medicine from Meharry.
• Dr. Robin Lee, program coordinator and clinical director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, shares insights about how the center’s Professional Counseling graduate degree program offers concentrations in clinical mental health and school counseling, two high-demand career fields.
The program requires students to complete 61 credit hours. Successful candidates will earn an education specialist degree and then pursue a career as either a professional counselor or as a school counselor in a K-12 setting.
• Dr. Khalilah Doss, the new vice president of student affairs and dean of students, discusses her priorities after being named to the leadership position this past summer as well as provides details about the types of support services she and her team provide students in coordination with other campus operations.
In her roles, Doss guides 11 Student Affairs departments, five Student Involvement and Leadership departments and, as dean of students, oversees the Office of Student Care and Conduct.
