July ‘Out of the Blue’ features research and grants support, Graduate MT, AI and creativity [WATCH]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — In the July 2024 edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television magazine program of Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will learn about a university office that supports faculty and student research and grant opportunities; how the Graduate MT helps former students complete their degrees; and how artificial intelligence is changing how students are being taught and trained for the jobs of the future.

In this month’s episode with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president for marketing and communications, viewers will hear from:

• Rachel McGinnis, director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, shares how her office helps faculty, staff and students find and apply for grants to support research projects as well as community partnerships.

• Betty Rinaudo, coordinator of the Graduate MT in University College, discusses how  the program reaches out to former students who haven’t yet completed their degrees and incentivize them to return to the university through services like the Prior Learning Assessment, which can give working adults credit for their professional experiences.

• Todd O’Neill, associate professor and coordinator for the Interactive Media program in the Department of Media Arts, discusses why teaching AI to students now will help them in the future when they’re embarking on their careers.

“Out of the Blue” is available anytime on the university’s YouTube channel, the True Blue TV channel, Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV. It also airs on Murfreesboro cable Channel 9 daily at 6 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; NewsChannel5+ at 3:30 p.m. Sundays; and streamed on the MTSU Jazz Network through WMOT.org at 7 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month; and on other cable outlets in Middle Tennessee, so check local listings.
