June ‘Out of the Blue’ discusses educator resources with MTSU’s Center for Educational Media [+VIDEO]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University’s Center for Educational Media is in focus on the June edition of ‘Out of the Blue,” the television magazine program for Middle Tennessee State University.

The center provides educators nationwide with development opportunities delivered in-person and online through streaming on True Blue TV and is dedicated to supporting the College of Education through its media, engineering, technical systems, Professional Development Center, and a growing library of on-demand videos available for educators.

Dr. Laura Clark, director for the CEM, discusses the center and its purpose on campus alongside plans for the upcoming semester with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications.

The center, based out of the Ned McWherter Learning Resources Center in the heart of campus, offers educational support all year long for educators in K-12 all the way through higher education levels.

Resources within the CEM enable for on-site conferences that are livestreamed and recorded, and over the coming year, nine conferences have been planned surrounding a variety of topics.

“This program is practitioner-driven because teachers request the topics and tell us what they need help on,” says Clark. “The (conferences) are also presented by the best practitioners because they’re nominated by their peers.”

The CEM collaborates and partners with multiple state agencies throughout the year, always having at least one representative present during each conference. This practice then gives educators an opportunity to connect with yet another resource that supports them within their community.

“The Center for Educational Media here at MTSU exists for the purpose of supporting education … we are dedicated to supporting and training and continuing the lifelong learning of educators in Tennessee,” said Clark.
