March ‘Out of the Blue’ features songwriting project, TXMD runway show preview, education graduate degrees online [+VIDEO]

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — On the March edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television magazine program for Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will learn about a project involving some of our songwriting students working with local elementary school students, get a preview of the upcoming TXMD fashion show, and hear about two of our graduate degrees in education now fully online.

This month’s guests sat down with Andrew Oppmann, program host and vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications, from studios located in the Center for Educational Media inside the McWherter Learning Resources Center on campus.

• Bess Rogers, assistant professor of songwriting, and sophomore commercial songwriting major Alexander Roberecki discuss the McFadden Songwriting Program. 

Students from the MTSU College of Media and Entertainment have teamed up with Rutherford County Schools’ McFadden School of Excellence to teach fifth graders the art of songwriting, in collaboration with the Country Music Hall of Fame.

• Senior design major Guinneth Sintic and senior merchandising major Rebekah Frey, co-directors of the upcoming TXMD Runway Show, preview the big annual fashion event by students in the MTSU College of Behavioral and Health Sciences.

A host of students in the university’s Textiles, Merchandising, and Design program in the Department of Human Sciences are preparing for this year’s college fashion show, this year titled “Melting Point,” that will happen April 12 in the Student Union Ballroom.

• Dr. Everett Singleton, associate professor in the Womack Department of Educational Leadership in the College of Education, discusses two graduate degrees in the college that can now be taken by students completely online.

Singleton provides details about the master’s and Ed.S. degree concentrations in higher education and instructional leadership and discusses how those degrees prepare successful candidates for various leadership roles either within K-12 education or within higher education.
