May ‘Out of the Blue’ greets a high-ranking grad, checks on CUSTOMS, gets educated on media center

Success stories abound in the May 2021 edition of Middle Tennessee State University‘s “Out of the Blue” TV magazine show with stories on a new Army general with MTSU ROTC ties, changes for the university’s CUSTOMS student orientation program, and updates on the far-reaching work of the Center for Educational Media.

Join us this month to hear from:

• Brig. Gen. Robert Powell Jr., a 1991 MTSU political science and international relations alumnus, who’s used his data science skills to become the 17th MTSU Army ROTC graduate to reach the rank of general and the Army Reserve‘s first cyber officer to earn the star.

Gina Poff, director of MTSU’s New Student and Family Programs in the Division of Student Affairs, who explains how students will finally be able to return to campus for a day, in limited numbers, for CUSTOMS orientation and to prepare online for the event and for course registration to join the Blue Raider family.

• Dr. Laura Clark, director of MTSU’s Center for Educational Media in the College of Education, who discusses how the center has expanded far beyond its strong audio-visual technology beginnings to connect educators around the world with professional development and required training via satellite, cable and the Web.

You can watch “Out of the Blue,” with host Andrew Oppmann, anytime online on MTSU’s YouTube channel and on MTSU’s True Blue TV, airing on Murfreesboro cable Channel 9 daily at 6 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m Central  and on Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, as well as on NewsChannel5+ at 3:30 p.m. Sundays.

“Out of the Blue” also is available as iTunes and Google Play podcasts and on other cable outlets in Middle Tennessee, so check local listings.
