MTSU English Ph.D. student named recipient of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 246 Graduate Scholar Award

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University’s chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi has announced doctoral student Kylie Petrovich as the second recipient of the prestigious Chapter 246 Graduate Scholar Award. 

The award, a one-time scholarship of $1,000, is granted to active Phi Kappa Phi members pursuing graduate studies at MTSU.

“We are fortunate as a chapter to be able to recognize the outstanding academic achievement and to support the research of one of our Phi Kappa Phi members,” said MTSU Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 246 President Philip E. Phillips, associated dean of the University Honors College. “She is only the second student to receive this award, which was made possible by the generous contributions of past and recent members of our chapter. We are proud of Kylie for her academic achievements and service to others!”

Petrovich, a Ph.D. student in English, serves as a graduate teaching assistant and is the editor-in-chief of Scientia et Humanitas, the University’s peer-reviewed academic journal. She plans to use the award to support her ongoing research and academic endeavors.

“I am honored to be the recipient of the Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Scholar Award,” Petrovich said. “I want to extend my sincerest thanks to Phi Kappa Phi, the Honors College, and MTSU. I would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Philip Phillips for his continued mentorship throughout my academic journey. 

“Pursuing my Ph.D. has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but it is not without its hardships. This scholarship will tremendously help me pursue my research and studies.”

The Graduate Scholar Award may be disbursed in whole or in two payments of $500, depending on the recipient’s preference.
