MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is again providing a spotlight on research efforts across the university by hosting its annual Scholars Week universitywide research and creative activity exposition set for March 21.

Set for March 17-21 this year, Scholars Week is a weeklong showcase where MTSU’s academic colleges celebrate scholarship, research, and creative activity through a variety of events and activities hosted by multiple academic departments and colleges.

Students will have the chance to share their research with the campus community, showcase their artistic efforts through creative performances, and create connections with others interested in learning more about their peers’ academic pursuits.

“This event provides an opportunity for students to share their projects with the campus community as presenters,” said Katie Medrano, program manager for the ORSP and event organizer. “It is also a great chance for students who are not involved in projects on campus to learn about what others are doing. Students can join us for the event to network with others and learn about possibilities for their careers and interests.”

This year’s exposition will take place Friday, March 21, in the Student Union Ballroom, second floor of the Student Union Building, kicking off with poster presentations at 10 a.m. followed by a catered Italian lunch buffet and student performances. The event is set to culminate with an awards ceremony presented by the college deans from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Ariel Nicastro

Though the deadline has passed to present at this year’s event, Ariel Nicastro, Scholars Week student committee co-chair, encourages all students to get involved for a rewarding experience that will expand their knowledge about research opportunities on campus.

“Presenting at any of the Scholars Week events is an experience you can add to your resume or CV and allows you to showcase your hard work! By presenting your research, you can connect with MTSU students and faculty both within and outside of your major. The free lunch for presenters is also a plus!” said Nicastro, a physics major and Honors student from Franklin.
