Hatred of Jews and why it has been a societal problem for centuries will be discussed on the next “MTSU On the Record” radio program.
Host Gina Logue’s interview with Kenneth Stern, director of the Bard Center for the Study of Hate at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, will air from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, and from 6 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 10, on WMOT-FM Roots Radio 89.5 and www.wmot.org.
Stern will deliver a webinar address on “Antisemitism Today: Censorship, Conspiracy and the Dangers of Hate” at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 14, as part of a guest lecture sponsored by MTSU Holocaust Studies, the Department of History, the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

Issues to be examined include why antisemitism remains pervasive both on the right and the left ends of the political spectrum, the relationship between free speech and the ability to combat antisemitism and ways in which this particular form of hate manifests itself today.
“One of the things that I’ll be exploring is … the things that happen in society in general, how people vilify others, the strength of our democratic institutions,” Stern said. “All those things matter when we think about how antisemitism plays out and what actually works to combat it.”
