Coordinated through and hosted by the Office of Intercultural and Diversity Affairs, the luncheon recognizes Black Americans in the community — the “unsung heroes” — who have contributed their time and talent for the enrichment and welfare of the entire community and the state of Tennessee.

The deadline to nominate honorees will come to a close on Monday, Jan. 6. Nominations can be submitted online at https://www.mtsu.edu/aahm/unity-awards/ or you can click here to download the PDF nomination form and send via email to Danielle.Rochelle@mtsu.edu. The nomination form explains each available category to choose from and information regarding the Unity Luncheon.

The banquet-style event includes a guest speaker, live entertainment and an awards presentation. Tickets are available online only through Jan. 31 and will not be available at the door.

Prices are $20 for students and $35 for nonstudents. A table of eight seats is available for $280. For more information, call 615-898-5812. To purchase, visit https://www.mtsu.edu/aahm/unity_luncheon/.

The Unity Luncheon is an MTSU tradition that has been around since 1996 where the institution honors selected community members during the university’s Black History Month celebration. To date, there have been 146 unsung heroes honored.
