True Blue TV broadcasts award-winning documentary about UFOs on Nov. 2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University’s True Blue TV will be broadcasting the award-winning science documentary “The UFO Movie THEY Don’t Want You to See” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Skeptoid Media, the company behind the film, has been a longtime partner of True Blue TV, the university’s hub for video content and live event programming.

“Since 2015, the fine folks at Skeptoid Media have enriched True Blue TV with their excellent short educational series ‘InFact’ and ‘The Feeding Tube,’” said Ty Whitaker, senior manager of True Blue TV Broadcast Productions. “Recently, they graciously opened their library of award-winning documentaries to help further True Blue TV’s educational mission with bright and compelling programming.”

While this may be the broadcast premiere of the film, the film has already won numerous awards and attention across several streaming platforms. On YouTube alone, the movie has over 1.1 million views.

“The UFO Movie THEY Don’t Want You to See” is a feature-length indie documentary film produced by Brian Dunning aiming to increase public science literacy by combatting the misinformation, alternative facts and conspiracies surrounding unidentified flying objects, better known as UFOs, as well as explaining the scientific evidence that is true and accurate regarding the phenomenon, according to the film’s website.

According to the website, the documentary does not feature any UFO popular personalities, but rather teaches astronomy and talks to experts in the following fields:

  • Physics and relativity
  • Exobiology
  • Exoplanetary spectral analysis
  • Image analysis
  • Pilot training and air traffic control
  • Defense

Dunning, documentary filmmaker and host of the Skeptoid podcast, produced other recent films including the free educational movie “Principle of Curiosity” (2017) and the award-winning feature documentary “Science Friction” (2022). He is also a member of the National Association of Science Writers. 

Some of the noteworthy awards and recognitions of the UFO documentary include winning best documentary at both GeekFestToronto in 2024 and the Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival in 2023 as well as Dunning winning best director at the Los Angeles Sci-Fi and Horror Film Festival in 2023. 

Whitaker said True Blue TV is grateful for the partnership with Skeptoid and its library of educational content.
