The Black History Month Committee at Middle Tennessee State University is accepting nominations of community members to be honored at the 26th annual Unity Luncheon celebration in February 2022.

Coordinated through the Office of Intercultural and Diversity Affairs, the Unity Luncheon is an MTSU tradition that has been around since 1996 where we honor our “unsung heroes” within the community during the university’s Black History Month celebration. The luncheon recognizes Black citizens who have contributed their time and talent for the enrichment and welfare of the entire community and the state of Tennessee.

Sometimes multiple honorees are selected in individual categories.

Honorees will be recognized and receive their awards at the Unity Luncheon, which will be held on Feb. 10, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the MTSU Student Union Ballroom. Last year’s event was held virtually because of the pandemic.

Deadline to submit nominations is Nov. 29. To nominate an individual, visit https://www.mtsu.edu/aahm/unity-awards.php and submit a form electronically; or print a pdf of the nomination form, fill it out and submit via mail, fax, or email. The pdf and online form explain in detail the various categories to choose from and information regarding the luncheon.
