[LISTEN] MTSU on WGNS: Economics education, True Blue blood drive, Homecoming 2021

MTSU faculty and staff appeared on WGNS Radio’s “Action Line” program recently to talk about economics education, an upcoming True Blue blood drive and Homecoming Week 2021.

The live program with host Scott Walker was broadcast on FM 100.5, 101.9 and AM 1450 from the WGNS studio in downtown Murfreesboro. If you missed it, you can listen to a podcast of the Oct. 18 program here.

• Dr. Maria Edlin King, instructor in the Department of Economics and Finance and director of the Tennessee Council on Economic and Free Enterprise Education, and Dr. Daniel Smith, director of the Political Economy Research Institute and professor of economics, who discussed October being Economic Education Month in Tennessee.

Gov. Bill Lee signed a proclamation earlier this year that was petitioned for by the Tennessee Council on Economic and Free Enterprise Education housed in the MTSU Jennings A. Jones College of Business, MTSU Department of Economics and Finance, and state Rep. Charlie Baum, an MTSU economics professor. Learn more here.

The “True Blue Blood Drive” will be held Nov. 1-3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, at the Campus Recreation Center, 1848 Blue Raider Drive. Nearly 665 gallons donated by MTSU supporters — and about 15,954 lives saved — since the big fall three-day American Red Cross event began in 2010.

Donors can make an appointment Nov. 1-3 by visiting the Red Cross website or going to http://redcrossblood.org and typing “MTSU” in the red “Find a Blood Drive” box. Appointments also are easy to schedule with the Red Cross Blood Donor app or by texting “BLOODAPP” to 90999. Walk-in donors also will be welcome. Learn more here.

Homecoming activities for the MTSU Student Government Association and alumni began Monday, Oct. 25, leading to Oct. 30 Homecoming Day events that include the 10 a.m. Homecoming Parade and 2:30 p.m. Blue Raiders football game against Southern Mississippi in Floyd Stadium.

The SGA theme this year is “True Boo Homecoming” as this year’s celebration falls close to Halloween. Find full details at www.mtalumni.com and click on the Homecoming link.
