MTSU on WGNS: Guest lecturer on travel, entrepreneurship week, alumni relations

MTSU faculty and staff appeared on WGNS Radio recently to share information about an upcoming guest lecture, the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Week and activities planned for Homecoming 2018.

The details were shared during the Oct. 15 “Action Line” program with veteran host Bart Walker. The live program was broadcast on FM 100.5, 101.9 and AM 1450 from the WGNS studio in downtown Murfreesboro. If you missed it, you can listen to a podcast of the show here.

Guests and their topics were as follows:

• Dr. David Carleton, interim chair of the Department of Global Studies and Human Geography, discussed the upcoming guest lecture by Rick Steves, travel author, TV host and humanitarian. Steves will visit campus Nov. 8 for a public lecture from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom to discuss his book “Travel as a Political Act.”

Global Studies and Human Geography is a new MTSU major that offers exciting academic and career paths for students seeking knowledge and direct experience in a constantly changing world.

• Joshua Aaron, assistant professor of management and the new holder of the Pam Wright Chair of Entrepreneurship in the MTSU Jones College of Business, discussed his new role and the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Week.

MTSU will be holding its annual Global Entrepreneurship Week events Nov. 12-15 at the Student Union Ballroom. The event will feature guest speakers throughout the week who will talk about their journeys in entrepreneurship. The week will also include a growing Entrepreneurship Fair for area high school students.

• Rhonda King, assistant director, MTSU Office of Alumni Relations, talked about MTSU Homecoming 2018 events and activities. MTSU’s homecoming game is set for Saturday, Oct. 20, against UNC-Charlotte and the days leading up to the big game included plenty of activities, such as the Golden Raiders reception, Distinguished Alumni Awards and others.

“Raidercade,” a throwback to arcade games, pinball machines and more, will be the MTSU Student Government Association theme for the 2018 homecoming events.
