MTSU faculty and staff appeared on WGNS Radio recently to share information about upcoming events by the Department of English, updates on a local natural history museum and details about a new sales lab on campus.
The details were shared during the Sept. 17 “Action Line” program with host Bart Walker. The live program was broadcast on FM 100.5, 101.9 and AM 1450 from the WGNS studio in downtown Murfreesboro. If you missed it, you can listen to a podcast of the show here.
Guests and their topics were as follows:
• Dr. Steve Severn, new chair of the MTSU Department of English, discussed upcoming events including the Writers Corps, Lavinia Project, Belcourt Westerns series in Nashville and the “In Process” creative writing series.
• Alan Brown, a lecturer in the Department of Geosciences and co-creator of the Earth Experience natural history museum on Old Salem Road in Murfreesboro, gave updates about the museum. The nonprofit museum will host a fundraiser, Naturale Beerfest, Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 6 p.m., with local craft brewers on hand to tout their wares.
• Laura Buckner, an instructor in the Department of Marketing in the Jones College of Business, discussed the new Mel Adams State Farm Agent Sales Lab at MTSU. The university cut the ribbon Aug. 7 on the lab, located on the first floor of its Business and Aerospace Building. The multifunctional lab will train students to do so, providing real-world sales scenarios to help them practice.
