MTSU closes Sept. 7 for Labor Day holiday; classes resume, campus reopens Sept. 8

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee State University will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, for the Labor Day Holiday. No classes will be held and all business and department offices will be closed.

Campus offices will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 8 a.m. and classes resume at their regular times that day.

Students taking Saturday classes are expected to attend Saturday, Sept. 5.

The MTSU Blue Raider football team will honor the life of country music icon Dolly Parton by wearing a special commemorative jersey patch for the home season opening against the Murray State Racers at 6 p.m. Saturday in Floyd Stadium. Parton died Aug. 25 after a brief battle with cancer.

Before the game, students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans will gather for Party in the Grove pregame tailgate in the Walnut Grove area of campus, with a main stage for performing artists, food trucks and a full slate of activities for the entire family starting at 3:30 p.m. Visit bit.ly/4i6wpnp to learn more.

Weekend and holiday closings from Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, will include MTSU Phillips BookstoreStudent Health Services and Campus Pharmacy.

Student facilities

During Labor Day weekend, openings will include:

• Student Union Building is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; open from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday, and closed Monday.

• James E. Walker Library is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; open from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday; and closed Monday.

• Campus Recreation Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, and closed Monday. The indoor pool is open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday. The outdoor pool is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and closed Monday.

MT Dining locations

MT Dining food venues open during the weekend include:

• Saturday: McCallie Dining Hall, Chick-fil-A at Corlew and POD at the Student Union are open.

• Sunday: McCallie Dining Hall, Panda Express and POD in the Student Union are open.

• Monday: McCallie Dining Hall, Raider Zone Grill at JUB, Chick-fil-A, Corlew Market and Subway are open.

Tornado siren testing canceled: Also, due to the holiday, the monthly tornado siren testing by the MTSU Police Department on the first Monday of each month has been canceled.
