MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The November episode of “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s television program, celebrates a milestone of the Center for Student Coaching and Success, takes viewers behind the scenes of MTSU’s spirit programs and highlights the community built through the Blue Raiders American Veteran Organization, better known as BRAVO.
This month’s guests and features were interviewed or presented by program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications.
November’s highlights include:

• Colby Jubenville, director of MTSU’s Center for Student Coaching and Success, celebrates the center’s 10th anniversary and discusses a $250,000 gift from businessman Eric Blankenship supporting its operations and a new speaker series. Jubenville introduces Monty Criswell, a Grammy- and CMA-nominated songwriter, cancer survivor and author, who shares his journey in the music industry and his experience overcoming colorectal cancer. Criswell will kick off the center’s “Hell of a View” speaker series in the spring, sharing lessons about songwriting, resilience and personal growth.

• Karli Sutton, reporter for True Blue TV, takes viewers behind the scenes of MTSU’s spirit programs, including cheerleading, dance and Lightning, the university’s ever-popular mascot. Students and coaches discuss the dedication behind game-day performances, community appearances and national competitions. The segment also explores the connections formed among team members and the role spirit programs play in building campus pride and traditions.

• Jerry Stewart and Ronald Griffin, graduating seniors and members of the Blue Raiders American Veteran Organization, discuss their military experiences and the community they have found at MTSU. As a chapter of Student Veterans of America, BRAVO works to build connections among student veterans through campus involvement and shared experiences. The two also highlight the resources available through the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center and encourage military-connected students to seek support and get involved on campus.
