MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — MTSU Arts is proud to present an evening of dance, music and theatre during its annual MTSU Arts Celebration Concert on Saturday, April 5.
Emcee and special guest performer opera singer Wendy Bryn Harmer will join talented MTSU students, faculty and staff to perform at the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Tucker Theatre located at 615 Champion Way. Free parking is available in any of the lots near the Boutwell Dramatic Arts Building. A parking map is available at https://bit.ly/MTSUParking.

Tickets for the show are $20 for adults and $10 for children. MTSU students get in free with their student ID, and MTSU Arts Patrons Society members can also receive complimentary tickets by RSVPing to Jennifer.Rice@mtsu.edu.
Theatre faculty Kristi Shamburger, along with her concert co-director, music faculty Will Perkins, are excited by the talent and opportunities fostered by this year’s production.

“It is lovely for our Musical Theatre and Opera students to have the opportunity to collaborate with one another and our exciting Metropolitan Opera performer, Wendy Harmer, this weekend. Students will not only have the opportunity to share the stage performing with Ms. Harmer but will also have two masterclass opportunities to perform for her and receive feedback on their opera and musical theatre pieces. This is excellent preparation for next fall’s collaboration of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance with the two departments. We look forward to sharing this exciting event with our amazing, supportive MTSU Arts Patrons,” Shamburger said.

The show will include performances from MTSU Dance, MTSU Steel Band, MTSU Salsa Band and MTSU Flute Quartet.
“The MTSU Arts Celebration Concert provides a glimpse into the talent and artistry in the College of Liberal Arts. It is always a treat to experience the broad array of offerings; it is a true celebration. We are so pleased to welcome Wendy Bryn Harmer as our guest artist to work with our students in the classroom and perform with them as well,” said College of Liberal Arts Dean Leah Lyons.

Three new initiates will also be welcomed into the MTSU Arts Hall of Fame, including Steven Malone (’03), Dorethe Tucker (awarded posthumously) and WGNS Radio. Bios about this year’s recipients are available in the concert program. View the concert program here.
