MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The April episode of Middle Tennessee State University’s “Out of the Blue” television magazine show includes an interview with Emmy-award winners Allie Sultan and Kelty Greye from the College of Media and Entertainment.
Sultan, an associate professor in the Video and Film Production Program, and Greye, a Commercial Songwriting major, stopped by the “Out of the Blue” set to discuss making the Emmy-winning “We Do It All” promotional spot.
You can watch their segment below:
Directed by Sultan, the 60-second commercial highlighting the College of Media and Entertainment came together in just over a month with a host of student-faculty-staff collaboration as well as partnership with the Division of Marketing and Communications.
The spot also features work from the university’s Animation Program, as well as on-screen student talent from the School of Journalism and Strategic Media and Department of Recording Industry.
“That was a labor of love between so many great and wonderful people,” Sultan said. “I think this was truly a collaborative effort. Faculty and students came together, and I’m just so proud of how it turned out.”
Greye, a senior, said she learned so much during the process and it was such an incredible experience to be part of.
“I am over the moon,” Greye said of the win. “My time at MTSU has been incredible, but
this is like the cherry on top. This whole experience from the songwriting context to writing a commercial song, recording it in the studio, filming it and then ending up at the Emmys. I have learned so much through every step of this, and it’s also just been the coolest experience of my life.”
The recent Emmy win was a first for the university.
