After 23 years at Middle Tennessee State University, the Department of Art’s Barry Buxkamper is calling it quits!
In celebration of this monumental and life-changing event, an evening of toasting and roasting, the “Barry Buxkamper Calls It Quits BBQ,” is scheduled for Saturday, June 2, on campus.
The event is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Tom Jackson Building. Tickets, which include dinner, are $25 each, and all proceeds go toward the Department of Art’s Graphic Design Scholarship.
Known for his instruction in graphic design and illustration as well as a quick wit and propensity for calling it like it is, Buxkamper is inviting friends, colleagues and others to enjoy dinner and live music from Don Coyote. Attendees will have the opportunity to share in favorite Barry stories as he is sent off into retirement.
Those who can’t join the festivities can donate to the Graphic Design Scholarship Fund” in Buxkamper’s name by sending checks, made payable to the MTSU Foundation, to the MTSU Foundation Development Office, 1301 E. Main St., P.O. Box 109, Murfreesboro, Tenn., 37132.
