Middle Tennessee State University is still applauding for four Rutherford County residents after their fellow employees honored their dedication, service and positive attitudes with the university’s annual Employee Recognition Awards.
Saluted during a recent reception in MTSU’s James Union Building, where University Provost Mark Byrnes praised the quality of their work and their workplace camaraderie, were:
• Lyn Powers of Murfreesboro, coordinator for MTSU’s Department of Biology in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences and recipient of the Administrative/Professional Employee of the Year award for 2022-23. Powers has been part of the MTSU family since 2012.
• Terry Martin of Murfreesboro, a print production assistant in the university’s Printing Services Department in its Creative and Visual Services offices and recipient of the 2022-23 Technical Employee of the Year award. Martin has been a Blue Raider employee since 1998.
• Missy Mullins of Smyrna, Tennessee, coordinator for MTSU’s Department of Health and Human Performance in the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences and the 2022-23 Classified Employee of the Year. She’s worked at MTSU since 2006.
• Kristy O’Neal of Christiana, Tennessee, print manager for the university’s Printing Services Department in Creative and Visual Services and recipient of the Administration Employee of the Year award for 2022-23. O’Neal, who’s worked for the university since 2020, also is a product of MTSU’s College of Media and Entertainment, earning her bachelor’s degree in graphic design.
Each received a financial gift from the MTSU Foundation as well as an engraved glass award for their work excellence and commitment to making MTSU and its students successful.
MTSU employs more than 2,500 faculty and staff members campuswide. Its Employee Recognition Program celebrates non-teaching employees for supporting students, faculty and their other colleagues and making the university a more efficient, effective workplace.
Non-faculty employees at MTSU are designated as administrative/professional, technical, classified or administration according to their job duties.
Clerical employees, now known as administrative/professional employees at MTSU, are honored each quarter, and an annual winner is chosen from that group. The other employee categories are recognized once a year.
