Helpful Tips for Acing Your Finals

Helpful Tips for Acing Your Finals

Contributing writer: Katie Golan

Finals are kind of the worst time of year for many college students but you can win the battle by getting ahead. Here are some tried and true study tips to help you make it through your finals.

Scheduling

Scheduling is everything. Make sure to write down everything you have to do and when it’s due. Writing it down will not only help you meet all your deadlines, but it will also help you feel less stressed about the number of things you have due because everything is organized. Everything seems more manageable when it’s written down in a planner.

Do the Big Stuff First

Don’t procrastinate on that 10-page paper or massive final project. Doing that the week before it’s due is going to not only stress you out but keep you up all hours of the night. You don’t want to leave your final grade up to a sleep deprived, stressed out version of yourself. Your work will start piling up, so do what you can when you can. Don’t wait. You’ll seriously regret it.

Flashcards Are Your Friend

Make flashcards or a homemade version of your final. Flashcards might seem like a waste of time, but they can be a very helpful tool to whip out anytime you have a spare minute and get some studying in.  Making a study guide by creating a test full of questions you think might appear in the final is a great way to simulate the test and practice before you take it.

These tips might seem simple or even obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t follow them. Finals are important. So, while your motivation might be at an all-time low, the stakes are at an all-time high. Your grade is on the line so be sure to put in the maximum effort!
