The Jennings A. Jones College of Business presented a number of special awards for the 2022-23 academic year to deserving faculty members to wrap up the spring semester.
Outgoing Dean David Urban presented the awards, with assistance from Don Midgett for some of the presentations for awards named in honor of his late father, professor E.W. “Wink” Midgett, who started a business department at MTSU in 1946, the precursor to the Jones College of Business.
“These faculty and staff members are among the very best at MTSU,” Urban said. “They consistently perform at the highest level and are outstanding role models for other to emulate.”
Winners of the E.W. “Wink” Midgett awards included (photos at bottom of story):
• Distinguished Teaching Award: Monica Davis, senior instructor, Department of Accounting.
• E.W. “Wink” Midgett Distinguished Research Award: Ralph Williams, associate professor, Department of Management.
• E.W. “Wink” Midgett Distinguished Service Award: Kristie Abston, associate professor, Department of Management.
• E.W. “Wink” Midgett Award of Excellence: Sam Zaza, assistant professor, Department of Information Systems and Analytics.
• E.W. “Wink” Midgett Outstanding Staff Member Awards: Sabrina Wright, financial administrator, Dean’s Office, and Emily Madison, executive assistant, Department of Marketing.
Other award recipients included:
• Bridgestone Americas Distinguished Lecturer Award: Michael Peasley, assistant professor, Department of Marketing.
• State Farm Outstanding Faculty Award: Ennio Piano, assistant professor, Political Economy Research Institute/Department of Economics and Finance.
• Bill and Kathy Jones Outstanding Faculty Award: Joshua Aaron, professor, Department of Management and Pam Wright Chair in Entrepreneurship.
• Outstanding Dale Carnegie Trainer: Mark Myers, adjunct professor, Dean’s Office.
• Dean’s Special Award of Merit: Maria Edlin King, director, Tennessee Council on Economic and Free Enterprise Education/Department of Economics and Finance.
