May 19 preview day targets transfers, high-school underclassmen

To reach more high-school underclassmen and transfer students as future MTSU students, representatives in the Office of Admissions and other campus departments are holding a third Spring Preview Day on Saturday, May 19.

The preview day will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Student Health, Wellness and Recreation Center on the east side of campus.

The day will start with a continental breakfast. Attendees then will be given a campus tour that includes several residence halls. Participants also can join in an academic open house, where representatives from different departments will be available to answer questions.

The added preview day comes at the suggestion of Dr. Deb Sells, vice president for student affairs and vice provost for enrollment and academic services.

“After talking with Deb, we have decided that we need to start targeting students earlier,” said Rob Patterson, assistant director in admissions for events. “This preview day is targeting current (high-school) sophomores and juniors (rising juniors and seniors) and transfer students.”

As of May 10, 382 people had registered to attend the May 19 Spring Preview Day. Of this number, officials reported, 117 are students and 265 are guests.

MTSU held Spring Preview Days March 24 and April 21 for graduating high-school seniors and current juniors.
