MTSU continues free Merit platform to spotlight, share student achievements

Middle Tennessee State University is continuing its partnership with the free online Merit student achievement platform that allows the university — and students — to publish and share stories about their many MTSU-related accomplishments.

For the past year, all newly enrolled students each semester have a Merit account automatically created for them, including new freshmen and transfer students for Fall 2023!

In addition to the university news website and Facebook and X feeds, most student achievements will appear on https://mtsu.meritpages.com as well as a student’s personal Merit page.

All new MTSU students for Fall 2023 semester should have received a welcome email in recent days that gives them access to their Merit page and more information about how they can share news of their achievements. Students can also view a PDF of instructions for sharing their accomplishments.

With the click of a button, students can share successes that include dean’s list, commencement, university scholarships and awards, internships, study-abroad trips, athletic accomplishments and more with their family and friends via their social media accounts.

MTSU’s Office of News and Media Relations will also send these achievement stories to the media who serve a student’s hometown ZIP code, their former high school, and the state legislators who represent their hometown.

“Merit is a terrific way to share MTSU student achievements online and across social media so that their parents, friends and family can celebrate their accomplishments with them,” said Jimmy Hart, senior director of News and Media Relations. “Students don’t even have to keep logging in to their accounts once set up. They’ll get an email with a link that takes them directly to their achievement, which they can then share on their Facebook, Instagram and other social media they wish.”

Students can start using the platform by simply signing in to their Merit page and adding a picture, academic activities and additional work experience.

This personalized collection of college achievements can benefit students as they move forward in their academic careers and later when they’re seeking employment.

An added benefit is that once each student’s Merit page is created, it goes with them upon graduation. It belongs to the student to add to as they see fit, and if future graduate schools or employers use Merit to recognize accomplishments, the MTSU graduate can add their new accomplishments to it as well.
