MTSU authors celebrate the ‘write stuff’ at book-signing event

MTSU’s most prolific former and current professors and alumni will sign copies of their writings for Twin Oaks Press.

The authors will promote their poetry, history, novels and other books from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Hastings Book Store, 1660 Memorial Blvd. in Murfreesboro.

Those scheduled to be on hand include:

  • Dr. June McCash, author of Almost to Eden, a novel about an Irish immigrant set in New York and Jekyll Island, Ga., and Plum Orchard, a novel about the daughter of a planter and a slave in plantation-era Georgia;
  • Dr. Ron Messier, author of Jesus, One Man, Two Faiths: A Dialogue between Christians and Muslims;
  • Dr. Phil Mathis, editor of Time and Tradition: A Poetry Anthology, a collection of poetry by various authors connected with MTSU;
  • Dr. Janice Leone, editor of Middle Tennessee State University: A Centennial Legacy; and
  • Ken Vanderpool, author of When the Music Dies, a murder mystery set in Nashville.

All selections are published by Twin Oaks Press, a small, independent Tennessee publisher founded in 2010. It allows authors more creative control than traditional presses.
