Friends and fellow MTSU Veterans Memorial and Veterans and Military Family committee members purchased a personalized brick placed at the MTSU Veterans Memorial for Jimmie Cain of Smyrna, Tenn., a recently retired English professor. At the memorial site, Cain holds a framed 1973 photo of himself just after enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served until 1976, then served in the Louisiana National Guard until 1979. He was a mechanic and crew chief for Vietnam-era Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey) helicopters, and was stationed in Korea from 1974-75. Bricks can be purchased from Hilary Miller, director of the MTSU Daniels Veterans Center, by calling 615–904-8347 or emailing Hilary.Miller@mtsu.edu. MTSU will be closed May 27 for Memorial Day.
