The Dairy Hill Stampede 5K Race and Family Fun Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the MTSU Experiential Learning and Research Center, located at 3211 Guy James Road, in Lascassas, Tenn.
The event will feature a 5K, or 3.1-mile long, timed race starting at 8 a.m. and a Family Fun Run that will begin at 9:30 a.m. The 5K will begin and end at the MTSU Dairy.
The 5K individual entry fee is $35, and the fun run entry fee is $25. Participants can register online at this link at Active.com.
“The MTSU School of Agribusiness and Agriscience is pleased to be able to host the Dairy Hill Stampede 5K Race,” said Dr. Warren Gill, director of the school.
“We are proud to showcase our Experiential Learning and Research Center with the new Dairy Unit, but we mostly are proud to be able to play a role in supporting the Veterans Recovery Center Council and the Farm Animal Care Coalition of Tennessee.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit both organizations.
The Farm Animal Care Coalition of Tennessee is an educational resource that provides training and information on farm animal welfare to farmers and to the public.
The Veterans Recovery Center Council supports and encourages veterans to meet and overcome challenges they encounter in their recovery process after deployment.
MTSU animal science alumna Lou P. Nave serves as executive director of the Farm Animal Care Coalition of Tennessee.
“We are very excited about this event,” Nave said. “The idea for the race originated in discussions about how we could raise awareness about FACCT and raise some funds, too.
“We decided to partner in this event with the Veterans Recovery Center Council as they are working in partnership with MTSU’s horse science program for veteran therapy.”
Gill serves as the MTSU contact for the event. He can be reached at 615-898-2523 or Warren.Gill@mtsu.edu.
