July ‘Out of the Blue’ is ready for dual enrollment, CUSTOMS-izing orientation, linking management and leadership

Casey Brown, left, Dual Enrollment Program coordinator in Middle Tennessee State University's University College; student orientation assistant Alexandria Hamilton and Gina Poff, director of the Office of New Student and Family Programs; and Dr. Leigh Anne Clark of the Jones College of Business' Department of Management are the guests on the July 2023 edition of MTSU’s video magazine, “MTSU Out of the Blue.

The July 2023 edition of Middle Tennessee State University‘s “Out of the Blue” TV magazine show is keeping summer hot with news about our growing Dual Enrollment Program with students at area high schools, how we welcome and prepare new freshmen and transfer students, and why we’re expanding to meet both industries’ and students’ demand for leadership training in management.

Join us this month to hear from:

Casey Brown, Dual Enrollment Program coordinator in our University College, who discusses how high schoolers are able to take full-fledged college courses to MTSU for both high school and college credit, ultimately bringing them onto campus as college freshmen with as many as five courses under their belts — all for only the price of an application fee.

Gina Poff, director of the Office of New Student and Family Programs, and student orientation assistant Alexandria Hamilton, who explain how this summer’s CUSTOMS, MTSU’s personalized orientation program for new students, helps the newcomers familiarize themselves with campus, their majors and their upcoming classes — and make a few new friends along the way.

• Dr. Leigh Anne Clark, a professor in the Department of Management in the Jones College of Business, who talks about the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management, one of the college’s oldest, and how they’ve created the new Management and Leadership Program after learning what employers need in the professionals they want and what students need in their careers.

You can watch “Out of the Blue,” with host Andrew Oppmann, anytime online on MTSU’s YouTube channel and on MTSU’s True Blue TV, airing on Murfreesboro cable Channel 9 daily at 6 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m Central  and on Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, as well as on NewsChannel5+ at 3:30 p.m. Sundays.
