MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — In the May edition of “Out of the Blue,” the television magazine program of Middle Tennessee State University, viewers will hear about an upcoming summer STEM camp, learn about a professor’s research into the impact of using virtual reality in police de-escalation training and hear from two international students about their academic journeys at MTSU.

In this month’s episode with program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president for marketing and communications, viewers will hear from:
• Dr. Heather Green, master instructor and MTeach program coordinator, shares details about the summer STEM camp hosted by the College of Basic and Applied Sciences on campus July 15-19. Designed for ambitious high school students eager to explore the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, this camp promises an immersive and enriching experience. • Dr. Ben Stickle, Middle Tennessee State University Criminal Justice Administration professor, discusses his groundbreaking research assessing the impact of using of virtual reality technology on police de-escalation training. Stickle co-authored a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to be used for research over a three-year period.
• International students Ambritha Rajendran, an information systems major from India, and Ola Afolayan, a data science major from Nigeria, share their personal journeys as two international students thriving on the Blue Raider campus, thanks to the invaluable support of the International Affairs Office and its efforts to promote a diverse and inclusive environment at MTSU.
